Count your rainbows…

Count your rainbows, not your thunderstorms.

Alyssa Knight, age 12.
Rainbow over Windamere (1 of 1)dmp.jpg

Windemere Dam, Mudgee NSW Australia.

There’s a truth in every saying, even those of a 12 year old girl.  Its interesting how the happiness we feel in seeing a rainbow after rain, is mirrored in our association with pleasure and pain.  As they say “Everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain.  But you can’t have a rainbow, without a little rain” (unknown).

However, I prefer the wisdom of Maya Angelou and “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud”. I hope that my rainbow has brightened your cloud.

Rainbow over Windemere is the property of Deborah McGrath Photography©.  It may be purchased as a photographic print or on homewares, stationary, soft furnishings and more from my Lakes and Waterways Gallery and store.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers…

This is such a pretty quote by Emily Dickinson.  I firmly believe that we should always have hope for as the old saying goes – “without hope, there is nothing”.

There are flowers for those who want to see them.

This beautiful quote by Henri Matisse was the inspiration for a recent Name Art commission for a friends daughter and it worked perfectly with my image of this pretty dahlia flower.

I wanted to create something soft and dreamy for a young girl who is full of wonder, discovering the world and the beauty around her.

My friend wanted a pretty studio pouch for her daughter to put her hand sanitisers and lip balms in, in her school bag.  Something that didn’t look like a cosmetic purse.  My studio pouches are perfect for this.  They come in two great sizes (small 23cm x 15cm and large 30.5cm x 20.5cm) and great for keeping pencils in, art supplies, cosmetics, camera accessories and anything you please. Made from 100% Polyester

  • YKK zip with metal teeth
  • Full printed design on both front and back
  • Simply clean with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash, dry clean, tumble dry or iron.
  • $24 for small and $26 for large + postage and handling (Australian Dollars).

There is beauty in simplicity

Some call it negative space, some call it minimalism.  I just love that haunting beauty of an early morning landscape.
